Groups

The ANZPAA NIFS Groups provide an essential mechanism to support and promote the continuous improvement of forensic disciplines, encouraging collaboration and innovative thinking. They also provide a source of discipline specific technical advice and guidance on contemporary issues affecting service provision in Australia and New Zealand. The ANZPAA NIFS Groups include ADVIC; CWALN and Specialist Advisory Groups (SAGs).

ANZPAA Disaster Victim Identification Committee (ADVIC)

ANZPAA Disaster Victim Identification Committee (ADVIC)

NIFS facilitates the activities of ADVIC on behalf of the Australia and New Zealand Police Commissioners. The group comprises Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Commanders from each Australian State and Territory and New Zealand, as well as a specialist scientific representative from pathology, biology, odontology, and anthropology. ADVIC meets annually to discuss and resolve issues affecting the forensic DVI community and participates in capacity building and education and training initiatives.

The Chemical Warfare Agent Laboratory Network (CWALN)

CWALN is an invitation-only network that is facilitated by NIFS. The network brings together forensic experts in chemical agent analysis with the aim of capability building, information sharing, education and training and quality assurance. As a member of CWALN, the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) provides training, collaborative trials, and reference standards for the network.
