The Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency National Institute of Forensic Science (ANZPAA NIFS) facilitates the Australia New Zealand Forensic Executive Committee (ANZFEC), a leadership group comprising the heads of each of the government and police forensic laboratories. ANZPAA NIFS’ strategic intent is to deliver high-quality and innovative products, services and advice to enhance the capability, efficiency and reliability of the forensic sciences for police, justice and the community. In response to the Queensland DNA Inquiry, ANZFEC formed a sub-committee to review the Inquiry reports, including recommendations for any learnings and opportunities to strengthen forensic science in Australia and New Zealand through cross-jurisdictional and international collaboration. Learnings from the Inquiry will help inform strategic priorities for ANZFEC, ANZPAA NIFS and its network of specialist advisory groups, which cover a wide range of forensic science disciplines.
