New Police Horizons Podcast: The Hidden Threat: Technology-Facilitated Sexual Assault with Dr Janine Rowse and Dr Joanna Tully

With unprecedented access to technology platforms, we are navigating a new world in which sexual predators have extraordinary access to vulnerable children and adults. Technology-facilitated sexual assault is not new but is a crime that is on the rise. It covers a wide range of harmful behaviours where technology is used to perpetrate sexually based harms, and real life contact sexual offences.

In this episode we talk to Dr Janine Rowse a forensic medical specialist in Victoria and Dr Joanna Tully who is the Deputy Director of the Victorian Forensic Paediatric Medical Service at the Royal Children’s and Monash Children’s hospitals. In caring for victims, both Janine and Joanna hear stories of physical and sexual violence, of psychological trauma, but also of resilience and hope. Their research into these offences show us that what is being reported is just the tip of the iceberg.
