Independent Review of NIFS

Section Menu

The Independent Review of NIFS was conducted by The Honourable Frank Vincent (AO QC) during 2013-2014, with a Final Report delivered to the ANZPAA Board in July 2014. A key finding of the Review was the need to recognise the broader governance and funding constituency of forensic sciences (beyond policing) in future financial and organisational arrangements. In Phase 2, NIFS successfully put forward a Planning and Work Program Framework to ANZPAA's Board. This Framework takes into account recommendations from the Review and face-to-face meetings and planning workshops with current and newly identified stakeholders.

This framework was approved for implementation by the ANZPAA Board in August 2015. Part of Phase 2, will be the establishment of the Australia New Zealand Forensic Executive Committee (ANZFEC). This Committee provides advice and recommendations on contemporary and emerging forensic science issues through ANZPAA NIFS and ANZPAA to ANZPAA's Board. They also will support the development and implementation of projects and business-as-usual activities as part of the NIFS Strategic and Business Plan.
