Australian Standards

ANZPAA NIFS worked with Standards Australia (SA), under Project Committee CH-041, in the development of the following Australian forensic science standards, which are available for purchase from SAI Global:

In defining a core framework approach towards forensic analysis, AS 5388 Forensic Analysis was the first such standard of its type in the world. As such it has attracted considerable international interest.

International Standards

The impetus for establishing International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) Technical Committee TC 272 Forensic Sciences, chaired by Dr Linzi Wilson-Wilde was initially provided by work (being led by Australia) to convert AS 5483 to an international standard (ISO/DIS 18385.2). The Standard ISO 18385:2016 Minimizing the risk of human DNA contamination in products used to collect, store and analyze biological material for forensic purposes -- Requirements was approved by ISO member countries in 2016.
