Operation Crossroads is run in support of the UN Decade of Action on Road Safety, which calls for international programs to make roads and vehicles safer, improve road user behavior and enhance emergency services.

Operation Crossroads is based on the principle that everyone has the right to travel on the road safely, whether by car, motorcycle, bicycle or on foot. Achieving lasting change in road safety will require law enforcement, governments, industry and the broader community to work together.

Human beings are fallible and crashes will occur. However the incidence of injury or deaths sustained can be reduced if we accept, comply and share the responsibility of using our roads safely.

We should not accept that any human being should die or be seriously injured on our roads. Each life saved and serious injury avoided, reduces pain and suffering for friends, families and loved ones. We all need to change the way we think and act about road safety.
